In the fall of 1999, Art to Grow was conceived to serve Memphis area schools. Each year, Art to Grow reaches out to over 18,000 Mid-South children during the summer and school year with free art instruction.

The program features six units of study for a cross-disciplinary education that relates to the Dixon's dual focus of fine arts and horticulture. Each visit includes a presentation on the subject chosen and a hands-on activity to reinforce the lesson. The program also travels to Mid-South communities within a 60-mile radius of Memphis for weekend events and festivals to acquaint participants with the Dixon and its programs, as well as provide fun and educational activities.
Teachers for grades 1-5 can reserve any of the current six units for their class. Reservations accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Art to Grow is FREE of charge. For more information, contact the Art to Grow department at (901)761-5250 or send an email to Bryony Petch at bpetch@dixon.org. Art to Grow takes Fall reservations on a first come first served basis beginning August 1st.
