Sue and Bleddyn Wynn-Jones,  Collecting New and Hardy Plants in the Mountains of Northern Vietnam
Thursday, November 16, 11:00am  |  Winegardner Auditorium

Plant collectors Bleddyn and Sue Wynn-Jones are owners of Crug Farm, a combination nursery and walled garden in north Wales, where trails wind through a lush jungle of many sought-after plants. The nursery specializes in unusual herbaceous perennials, climbers and shrubs, and hundreds of them are propagated from over 18,000 seed and plant collections gathered on around 75 expeditions by the Wynn-Joneses. Crug Farm counts Buckingham Palace and top garden designers among its regular clientele, and it is a revered destination for gardeners looking for inspiration for their own designs.

Sue and Bleddyn Wynn-Jones have spent over 3 months per year for 20 years traveling the world in search of rare and unusual plants from Vietnam, Nepal, Korea, the Philippines, and more. Their lecture will focus on their expeditions in northern Vietnam. Discovering new species and other exciting plants, they have explored that region’s mountainous forests seven times since 1999.

They are Chelsea Flower Show President Award winners and provide an invaluable contribution to plant science and conservation today.

Free with regular admission. Seating is limited.

The Phoebe Cook Lecture series is co-sponsored by the Memphis Garden Club, a member of the Garden Club of America, and Dixon Gallery and Gardens. This series provides an opportunity to bring outstanding speakers in horticulture, conservation, and floriculture to Memphis. The series was established and endowed by the late Phoebe Cook Welsh in memory of her mother, Phoebe Cook. Gifts from Welsh’s family, the Memphis Garden Club, and friends in the Memphis community continue to fund this series.
