At that time, Chile was a restless democratic country, amidst a significant socio-cultural change and at the threshold of a polarized political confrontation that, like in almost every other Latin American country, ended in a long, dark period of dictatorship. That long night lasted until the end of the 1980’s, and it finally gave way to the interesting democratic chapter in which Chile and its neighboring countries find themselves today.
