Senior Studio: Printmaking with Maritza Davila-Irizarry (ages 65+)
Oct 4, 2022 - Oct 25, 2022
All Day
Weekly on Tuesday
Dive into the world of linocut printmaking in this beginner’s class, and you’ll soon be channeling Picasso or Escher. Linocut burst into popularity in the early twentieth century as a printmaking technique. It is preferred over wood as it lacks a directional grain and doesn’t split. It’s also extremely satisfying to slice and cleave, creating a mirror image of your final image.
This class will cover designing and drawing your image, transferring it to a lino block, and proper carving methods. Please bring ideas and visual references as source material. Images should ideally be simple and bold (size 4x6 inches).
