Earn badges at the Dixon!

The Dixon is your museum, especially if you’re a Girl Scout! The Dixon is partnering with Girl Scouts Heart of the South to make earning badges fun and easy.

We have a variety of badges at the Brownie and Junior levels available to earn. For Brownies, we have the potters badge, senses badge, hiker badge, and the painting badge. For Juniors, we are offering the jeweler badge, flower badge, gardener badge, and drawing badge. Each badge has 5 steps that can all be completed at the Dixon, and I think you would be hard pressed to find a more inspirational setting.

In the process of partnering with Girl Scouts Heart of the South, I learned more about the girl scouts than I ever knew as a girl scout myself. Did you know you can be a girl scout without being part of a troop? Single scouts are called Juliets. Bonus fact, the founder of the girl scouts was named Juliet. This is a great option if you don’t have a troop in your area. You can also start your own troop at any time! If you’re an adult looking to give back to the community, girl scouts has a “troop” for women too. They’re called Troop 901, and they spend the year fundraising to support local troops, as well as developing leadership skills for girls of all ages. They are responsible for the popular event Cookies on Tap.
