The Gift That Keeps On Giving by Sheryl Alexander

When Mr. and Mrs. Dixon purchased 17 acres of property in 1939 to build their home at what is now Cherry Road and Park Avenue they probably never imagined that:

· tens of thousands of people would walk through their home and incredibly beautiful gardens each year;

· their collection of 26 paintings and works of art would grow into over 2000 pieces and be viewed by people from all over the world;

· children would be running around squealing with laughter while playing on their grass and around their ponds;

· their lawn would provide a perfect location for concerts, movies, dinner parties, family celebrations and weddings;

· Shakespeare would be performed on their back porch;

· melodies from hundreds of birds would be heard from the branches of the trees they so lovingly planted;

 · anyone, including myself, is able to sit peacefully among the flowers, trees, singing birds and roaming people while relaxing and enjoying their lunch on any day of the week;

· the gift of their home and gardens, made after their death, would create such a legacy of pleasure and delight for so many people these last 39 years.

Everyone has the opportunity to leave a great legacy, whether it's through monetary giving or through your words and deeds.  If you are interested in leaving a legacy for the galleries and gardens, you can do so in your will or estate plan so that future generations can enjoy the Dixon forever.
