Tour at Two: Sojourn

Sojourn is a powerful example of Brittney Boyd Bullock's ability to breathe new life into common materials, creating sculptural works of art that surprise, delight, and invite contemplation. Despite the variety of whimsical trimmings and embellishments used, there is a certain ritualistic repetition to the tonality of the composition. These disparate materials all absorb and reflect light in different ways, creating alternating areas of brightness and shadow. Bullock carefully planned the placement and length of each "string" in the work so that certain areas project future from the wall that others and some even move with motion in the air around them. therefore, each person who passes by Sojourn plays a role in its creation, bringing this visually energetic work to life.
