She Tries for a Smile
Annabelle Meacham
, Artist

Annabelle Meacham lives in Memphis.  Raised in a career-Navy military family, she has lived many places. During her high school years she lived just outside London on a NATO base. She has a degree in business, to satisfy her father, from Florida State University. Annabelle met a handsome man from Senatobia and they lived there until he retired in around 2015 and moved to Memphis. She had studied art at Northwest Mississippi Community College when her one son was young, and then 3 years at The Memphis College of Art.

Fortunately for her, she has always been able to paint instead of working for someone. Her work concentrates on generally pleasant surrealist images.  In 2009, her work was selected to be in the Mississippi Museum of Art Biennial exhibition.  She has always had gallery representation in Memphis and moved to Memphis in 2015. In 2010, she was commissioned to paint the wall decorations for the Emergency Waiting Room of the Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis. In 2013, she was the artist for the Memphis River Arts Festival poster, and has work in the collection of the City of Memphis and several local corporations.
