Oh deer! The Season's Here! - DIY

Featured on the Residence stairwell banister is one of our staff’s favorite holiday decorations. This wonderful piece was created by Buff Adams of The Memphis Garden Club. The magnolia leaf and pine cone décor can easily be refashioned for your home as a front door reef or centerpiece for your holiday table. To recreate this wonderful Dixon décor in your own home simply follow the instruction below:

 1. Gather 12 to 14 magnolia leaves of various sizes and 1 large  pine cone

2.  Spray paint the pine cone the color of your choice. Add glitter to the pine cone to create a more dazzling look.

3.  Take 5 large leaves and hot glue them into the pine cone’s bottom layer. Skip two or three layers of the pine cone and glue the rest of the leaves. Space them out so they create a fanned out look.

4.  Add holly berries to add more color. To make it into a door hanger: attach ribbon with a hot glue gun to the back of the magnolia leaves where they meet the pine cone. Twist wire around the ribbon and create a loop to hang it on the door.
