ImageOPENING JULY 5!

Bold, Cautious, True: Walt Whitman and American of the Civil War Erd

July 5-October 4, 2009

The much-anticipated Dixon exhibition Bold, Caurtious, True: Walt and American Art of the Civil War Era is here at last.  This major loan show includes American masterpieces of the 1860s from museums and private collections coast to coast. The works of Frideric E. Church, Sanford, Winslow Homer, Thomas Moran, and many others are seen against the backdrop of the Civil War and through the poetic language of Walt Whitman, America's most singular voice of the nineteenth century.
