The Art of Financial Planning Through the Lens of Chinese Calligraphy
Cathy Lu Espel, Vice President and Financial Planner, First Horizon Bank

Cathy joined First Horizon Bank in 2014 and specializes in young professionals, especially healthcare professionals with student loans. She is also passionate about helping women feel empowered and in control of their finances. Cathy holds the Series 7 and 66 licenses, and in addition, she is Life and Health Insurance licensed.

Cathy double majored in Economics and Statistics with Summa Cum Laude distinction from State University of New York at Stony Brook. She earned her Master of Arts in Economics from University of Tennessee Knoxville in 2013. She is an active member of her community working with Memphis Chinese Association. She is originally from China and is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese.

Cathy started learning Chinese Calligraphy since she was 6 years old. She followed Master Zhou who is considered as one of the greatest Chinese calligraphers. In her spare time, Cathy loves teaching Chinese calligraphy at local museums and schools, and traveling with her daughter Mia and husband Dr.Espel.

Wednesdays can be especially busy at Park and Cherry. If you're attending Munch and Learn, please plan ahead and place your lunch orders early. To reduce disruptions during the lecture, guests are asked to bring their own food from the cafe to the auditorium. You may request to-go containers to make the trip to your seat easier.
