Munch and Learn: History of Wrestling in Memphis
History of Wrestling in Memphis
Bobby Ford, founder of Tiger Pro Wrestling
A local professional wrestler, former Memphis Firefighter, and credited stuntman, Bobby Ford, is the founder of Tiger Pro Wrestling. Bobby's lifelong passion for professional wrestling has motivated him to push the sport and tradition down new avenues in an effort to reach audiences who may have never been properly exposed. Those efforts have led to Tiger Pro Wrestling hosting events in a wide variety of venues, including: local bar Rocky's, Memphis breweries Meddlesome, Memphis Made, and Wiseacre, Edge District art gallery Ugly Art Co., and The Green Room at Crosstown Arts. In addition to bringing professional wrestling to new audiences, Bobby has spent years studying its history. Join the Dixon for this Munch & Learn covering the impact of professional wrestling on the culture of Memphis and the Greater Mid-South.
Wednesdays can be especially busy at Park and Cherry. If you're attending Munch and Learn, please plan ahead and place your lunch orders early. To reduce disruptions during the lecture, guests are asked to bring their own food from the cafe to the auditorium. You may request to-go containers to make the trip to your seat easier.
