Ongoing Programs:

NEW! Sprouts (12-24 months)

Thursdays, 10:30am – 11:00am  |  Members free; $8 non-members

Look, listen, walk, talk, touch, smell, sing, discover! This interactive program for toddlers and their caregivers explores the Dixon with all the senses, building social and motor skills, encouraging creative play, and having a ton of fun.

Mini Masters (ages 2-4)

Every Tuesday  |  10:30am  11:15am  |  Free for Members; $8/child for non-members

This parent-child workshop is designed for toddlers to explore, shape, texture, color, and other sensory possibilities through art making. Each Tuesday offers a fun learning experience for you and your child, which includes a story time, hands-on art activity, and snack.

Reservations Required as space is limited. Please call Tuesday at 11:30 am through the next Monday at noon. Neither day-of registration nor unregistered participants are permitted. To register, please call (901) 761-5250. 

Kaleidoscope Club (ages 5-9)

Wednesdays, 4:00pm – 5:00pm  |  Members free; $8 non-members

For younger artists, Kaleidoscope Club offers a perfect mix of everything the Dixon has to offer. Each week we will begin a project that is meant to spark creativity and critical thinking. Whether it is horticulture, art, or literature, your child will surely exercise his or her imagination. Snack provided. Reservations required. Space limited.

NEW! -ology (ages 10-13)

word-ology:

Saturdays, January 26, February 2 and 9 | 1:30pm – 4:00pm

Experience art in a new way: with words! Writing and typography have always intertwined with art and design. In this workshop series, young  -ologists  will use typefaces, words, poems, and stories to explore mixed media art pieces. Taking influence from great writers, poets, and designers, word-ology is sure to stretch the young mind and challenge what you think about the ways that words and pictures come together! 

Must be able to attend all three sessions. Supplies and snack included.

Family Programs: 

Family Studio (all ages)

First Saturday of the month:  January 5, February 2, March 2, April 6, May 4, June 1  |  10:00am  12:00pm  |  Free 

Looking for something new and fun to do with the family on Saturday morning? Drop in at the Dixon for Family Studio, where families can create magnificent works of art, play a game, solve a puzzle, or explore the world of art through children's books. Each month highlights a different work of art from one of our exhibitions or the gardens. Please check our event calendar for more information.

Kids Rock! Family Day: Saturday, February 16, 2019, 10:00am – 2:00pm

Unleash your inner child at a kidtastic Family Day! Youth take the mic at this unique event featuring student-created activities, live performances and music, favorite after-school snacks, games galore, and fun for all ages

Kids in the Garden: Awesome Offshoots
Saturday, January 26, 10:00am – 12:00pm

Let’s go outside and get our hands dirty! This fun gardening session will give kids a chance to experience nature up close and learn the basics about planting and garden design. Girl Scout Badges at the Dixon

Dixon Gallery and Gardens and Girl Scouts Heart of the South have teamed up to make it easy and fun to earn a variety of badges at the Daisy, Brownie, Junior, and Cadette levels. Bring your troop to learn about subjects from painting to gardening while enjoying everything the Dixon has to offer. Girl Scout Badge workshops are two hours and meet all requirements for the badge.

Supplies included.
Cost: $5 per participant.

Troop leaders are responsible for provided badges.
