Ongoing Programs:

Sprouts (12-24 months)

Thursdays, 10:30am – 11:30am

Look, listen, walk, talk, touch, smell, sing, discover! This interactive program for toddlers and their caregivers explores the Dixon with all the senses, building social and motor skills, encouraging creative play, and having a ton of fun.

Mini Masters (ages 2-4)

Every Tuesday, 10:30am  11:15am  

This parent-child workshop is designed for toddlers to explore, shape, texture, color, and other sensory possibilities through art making. Each week offers a fun learning experience for you and your child, which includes a story time, hands-on activity, and snack.

Kaleidoscope Club (ages 5-9)

Wednesdays, 4:00pm – 5:00pm 

For the younger artists, Kaleidoscope Club has a perfect mix of everything the Dixon has to offer. Each week participants will enjoy a project that sparks creativity and critical thinking. Whether it is horticulture, art, or literature, your child will surely exercise their imagination. Snack provided.

-ology (ages 10-13)

Saturdays, 1:30pm – 3:00pm

Now a weekly program!  -Ology is designed for young creators looking to ask big questions and challenge themselves with new experiences. Each month will follow a new theme from drawing to printmaking to gardening and more. This is a chance to discover new interests while building on social, critical thinking, and artmaking skills!

Kids in the Garden (ages 7-10)

Second Saturdays of the month 
January 11, February 8, March 14
10:30am – 12:00pm

This fun gardening workshop gives kids a chance to experience nature up close and learn the basics about horticulture and the flora around them.

Special Programs:

Spring to Art Camp (Grades 1-5)


Monday - Friday, March 16 - March 20, 9:00am – 3:00pm

Spend your Spring Break at the Dixon! Enjoy a week of adventures in art-making, outdoor-exploring, and fun-having. Supplies and snack included. Participants should bring a sack lunch. Dress for a mess!

Girl Scout Badges at the Dixon

Dixon Gallery and Gardens and Girl Scouts Heart of the South have teamed up to make it easy and fun to earn a variety of badges at the Daisy, Brownie, Junior, and Cadette levels. Bring your troop to learn about subjects from painting to gardening while enjoying everything the Dixon has to offer. Girl Scout Badge workshops meet all requirements for the badge. *Troop leaders are responsible for providing badges.

Duration:
Daisies: 1.5 hours
Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes: 2 hours

Cost (includes supplies):
Workshop for 5-15 participants: $75; additional participants: $5 per child (maximum 20 participants)

Family Studio (all ages)

First Saturdays of the month

Bring the whole family to Family Studio, where everyone can create unique works of art, open studio-style. A large assortment of supplies is available.

Jazzy Family Day 
Saturday, February 15, 2020, 10:00am – 2:00pm

Brass, sass, dazzle, and roar at the Dixon during a fun-filled day! Explore the inspired lives of Harlem Renaissance artists and discover the power of perseverance.  The museum will be filled with spectacular art activities, sounds, snacks, and specials guests!
