Fall Break Bonanza

October 1 – October 31
Recommended ages 5+

There is a chill in the air and the Dixon has a cornucopia of fall art and garden activities for the whole family. From supply kits to scavenger hunts, do-it-yourself or do-it-together, you can create your own fall break fun at home and at the Dixon. You can choose one or all!

Create, experiment, sculpt, explore! Our downloadable packet includes instructions for a variety of activities and experiments so you can discover and create on your schedule. Link coming soon!

Enhance your visit to the Dixon with a Bonanza Bag! This little bag of happiness includes scavenger hunts, art supplies, activity prompts, and more. Available for $5 purchase in the Park + Cherry gift shop.

Sprouts (12-24 months)

Participant safety is our top priority. Due to the increase in COVID-19 cases in Shelby County, Early Childhood programs (Sprouts and Mini Masters) are paused until further notice. In the meantime, please check our Toddler Toolkits for a safe and fun family visit at the Dixon.

Mini Masters (ages 2-4)

Kaleidoscope Club (ages 5-9)

Wednesdays, 4:00pm – 5:00pm

Each week participants will enjoy a project that sparks creativity and critical thinking. Whether it is horticulture or art, your child will surely exercise their imagination.

-ology (ages 10-13)

Saturdays, 1:30pm – 3:00pm
*Registration closes Fridays at 3:00pm.

-ology provides young people with a chance to discover new creative interests and build on social, critical thinking, art-making, and community skills.

Kids in the Garden (ages 7-10)

Second Saturdays, 10:30am – 12:00pm

This fun, hands-on gardening workshop teaches kids the basics about horticulture and the flora around them.

Teen Workshop: Intro to Cinematography
with Indie Memphis (ages 14-18)

Saturday, September 25, 1:00 – 4:00pm

This new teen program follows a different theme each workshop while exploring materials, techniques, and careers in art. In September, teens will go behind the camera in a hands-on film workshop with Indie Memphis. This engaging introduction to cinematography will take a closer look at the lights, camera, and action of this unique career in movie making. No experience necessary.

Girl Scout Badges at the Dixon

Dixon Gallery and Gardens and Girl Scouts Heart of the South have teamed up to make it easy and fun to earn a variety of badges at the Daisy, Brownie, Junior, and Cadette levels. Bring your troop to learn about subjects from painting to gardening while enjoying everything the Dixon has to offer. Girl Scout Badge workshops meet all requirements for the badge. *Troop leaders are responsible for providing badges.

Daisies: 1.5 hours
Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes: 2 hours

Cost (includes supplies):
