Spring to Art Camp (ages 6-10)

Mon. – Fri., March 12 – 16, 2018  |  9:00am – 3:00pm  |  $125 members; $175 non-members

Spend your Spring Break at the Dixon! Enjoy a week of adventures in art-making, outdoor-exploring, and fun-having. Supplies and snack included. Participants should bring a sack lunch. Dress for a mess! Reservations required. Space limited.

NEW! Sprouts (12-24 months)

Thursdays, 10:30am – 11:00am  |  Members free; $8 non-members

Look, listen, walk, talk, touch, smell, sing, and discover! This new interactive program for toddlers and their caregivers offers an exploration of the Dixon with all five senses. Sprouts classes focus on building social and motor skills, encouraging creative play, and having a ton of fun. Reservations required. Space limited.

NEW! -ology (ages 10-13)

Saturdays, January 20, 27, and February 3  |  1:30 pm – 4:00 pm  |  $30 members; $45 non-members

-ology is a new art class for youth who love making, investigating, an experimenting. These multiple-session studio workshops provide a focused foundation and tool kit for young artists to strengthen their creative skills and learn new ones. From drawing to printmaking, sculpture to sewing, participants will explore a wide variety of art media and come away with a backpack full of new ways to experience the world using their art.


Explore the basics of drawing and mark-making techniques in this three-session workshop. Participants will learn how to use and experiment with different forms of media including charcoal, ink, pastel, and much more. With the foundation as a springboard, young artists will dive into an entirely new level of drawing. No experience needed!

Must be able to attend all three sessions. Supplies and snack included. Reservations required. Spaces limited.

Kids in the Garden

Every Quarter  |  $10 members; $15 non-members

Let’s go outside and get our hands dirty! This fun gardening session will give kids a chance to experience nature up close and learn the basics about planting and garden design. This program takes place quarterly. Snack and tools included. Reservations required; space limited. Please check our event calendar for more information.

Family Studio (all ages)

First Saturday of each month  |  10:00am  12:00pm  |  Free 

Looking for something new and fun to do with the family on Saturday morning? Drop in at the Dixon for Family Studio, where families can create magnificent works of art, play a game, solve a puzzle, or explore the world of art through children's books. Each month highlights a different work of art from one of our exhibitions or the gardens. Please check our event calendar for more information.

Globe-Trotting Family Day: Saturday, February 17

Celebrate the Dixon’s exhibitions with your family! Join us for arts and crafts, music, refreshments, games, tours, dress up, and more. Best of all, Family Day is free. Please check our event calendar for more information and upcoming dates. 

Mini Masters (ages 2-4)

Every Tuesday  |  10:30am  11:15am  |  Free for Members; $8/child for non-members

This parent-child workshop is designed for toddlers to explore, shape, texture, color, and other sensory possibilities through art making. Each Tuesday offers a fun learning experience for you and your child, which includes a story time, hands-on art activity, and snack.

Reservations Required as space is limited. Please call Tuesday at 11:30 am through the next Monday at noon. Neither day-of registration nor unregistered participants are permitted. To register, please call (901) 761-5250. 

Girl Scout Badges at the Dixon

Dixon Gallery and Gardens and Girl Scouts Heart of the South have teamed up to make it easy and fun to earn a variety of badges at the Brownie and Junior levels. Bring your troop to learn about subjects from painting to hiking, while enjoying everything the Dixon has to offer.
