Experience an environment that applauds personal interpretation and advances creative thought. The Dixon promotes interest in the arts and horticulture through specific programming for children, adults, and outreach groups.

Mini Masters (ages 2-4)

Every Tuesday | 10:30 am- 11:15 am | Free for Members, $8/child for non-members

This parent-child workshop is designed for toddlers to explore, shape, texture, color, and other sensory possibilities through art making. Each Tuesday offers a fun learning experience for you and your child, which includes a story time, hands-on art activity, and snack.

Reservations Required as space is limited. Please call Tuesday at 11:30 am through the next Monday at noon. Neither day-of registration nor unregistered participants are permitted. Reserve online.


Spring to Art Camp (ages 6-10)

2018 dates will be announced this winter.

Spend your Spring Break at the Dixon! Enjoy a relaxing and fun week spent making art and learning about nature. Classes include materials and snacks. Each participant should bring a sack lunch. Reservations required. Space limited. 

Kaleidoscope Club (ages 6-9)

Every Wednesday | 4- 5 pm | Members Free, Non-Members $8.

Kaleidoscope Club has a perfect mix of everything the Dixon has to offer. Each week we will feature a project that encourages creativity and critical thinking. Whether it is horticulture, art, or literature, your child will surly exercise their imagination. Snack provided.

Kids in the Garden

Let’s go outside and get our hands dirty! This fun gardening session will give kids a chance to experience nature up close and learn the basics about planting and garden design. This program takes place quarterly. June 10 and September 16, and December 16 are 2017 dates. Check our event calendar for more information.

Family Studio (all ages)

First Saturday of Each Month | 10:00 am - 12:00 pm | Free 

Looking for something new and fun to do with the family on Saturday morning? Drop in at the Dixon for Family Studio, where families can create magnificent works of art, play a game, solve a puzzle, or explore the world of art through children's books. Each month highlights a different work of art from one of our exhibitions or the gardens.

Family Days (all ages)

Every Quarter | Saturday 10:00 am - 2:00 pm | Free

Celebrate the Dixon’s exhibitions with your family! Join us for arts and crafts, music, refreshments, games, tours, dress up, and more. Best of all, Family Day is free. Check out the Dixon's calendar for upcoming dates.

Girl Scout Badges at the Dixon

Dixon Gallery and Gardens and Girl Scouts Heart of the South have teamed up to make it easy and fun to earn a variety of badges at the Brownie and Junior levels. Bring your troop to learn about subjects from painting to hiking, while enjoying everything the Dixon has to offer. Fall Art Break (recommended for ages 6+)

October 10, 11, 12, and 13, 10:00am – 1:00pm

Come to the Dixon for a fun and refreshing art break! Explore a variety of materials with a week of hands-on activities for the whole family.
